advice for the product maintenance

Product maintenance

Stainless steel products do not need special maintenance; however it is advisable to take some precautions and use suitable detergents for daily cleaning.

Successful cleaning

In general it is sufficient to wash with hot water and soap or hot water and vinegar, an abundant rinsing and a drying with a cloth.
They are to be avoided: hydrochloric acid, abrasive powders, scourers, brushes and substances to clean silver.

Recommended products

To guide you in the choice of detergents, Foster offers the products of the Steel Clean line for steel cleaning:
  • Microfiber cloth to quickly remove traces of grease, grease and dust.
  • Professional cream to restore the original splendor to the steel, removes limescale deposits, stubborn dirt and any rust stains caused by the prolonged contact of ferrous objects.

Ordinary Cleaning

Proper maintenance of your stainless-steel surfaces will keep them shiny and unaltered over time.
For proper routine maintenance of stainless steel, we recommend the use of the following products:

  • Microfiber cloth
  • Water
  • White vinegar or dish detergent

Procedure:
We recommend mixing water and vinegar in equal parts in a separate container; with the water-vinegar mixture dip the cloth and wipe it over the stainless-steel surface. Once the surface has been cleaned with the water-vinegar mixture, proceed to rinse with plenty of water. Finish by wiping the surface dry.

Extraordinary cleaning

Extraordinary cleaning

Daily use of the stainless sink or cooktop results in the formation of stains (whitish, iridescent, or rust-colored) that in no way denote poor quality or defectiveness of the material. The most common are stains from evaporated water showing deposit of mineral residues, residues from improperly rinsed washing or cleaning products, cooking liquids, salt, lemon or tomato juice, etc.

It is possible to treat with Foster Steel Clean cream any surface that has suffered aggression.

The properties of the cream ensure the removal of residues that damage the surface, allowing the regeneration of the protective layer of steel.

Procedure:

  • Pour a good amount of cream on the steel (depending on the surface to be treated)
  • Rub with the aid of a soft cloth (e.g., microfiber) rubbing with an appropriate amount of force following the direction of brushing the steel. At this point the cloth should turn gray, an indication that the product is acting properly.
  • Rub the cream vigorously over the entire surface of the stainless steel. The cream should be rubbed all over until it becomes a light layer of white powder.
  • At the end of the treatment, rinse with plenty of water to remove all residues of the cream.
  • At the end of rinsing, dry the surface.

In case of stubborn residues or Pitting Corrosion (localized corrosion points), it is necessary to repeat the treatment even several times to "clean up" the contaminated area and ensure the proper formation of the passivating layer.
